Obama Thinks Doctors are Greedy?

After Pres. Obama’s most recent televised push for the health care bill, where he basically called doctors greedy and insurance companies dishonest, I received an e-mail from a reader who is a retired nurse.  She was very upset at the way Obama portrayed the medical industry.  Here is her e-mail…

“As a retired registered nurse, I am extremely frustrated at Mr. Obama’s ignorance and falsehoods when he discusses our country’s health care system and why he thinks it needs reform. I don’t kid myself – Obama wants ‘reform’ in order to save money in his government-run health care system so it will be economically feasible. One of his strategies is to malign doctors, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies. Just in recent days, he has done it many times. I’ll give you examples.

Obama said that ENT doctors will sometimes take out tonsils because of the increased fees (and higher payout) in doing so, instead of just treating with pills. Wow!  He accused thousands of doctors of malpractice!  Here are the facts. Doctors do not want to endanger patient health, so they recommend that ‘junky’ tonsils be taken out for two reasons: either they are repeatedly trapping harmful bacteria, which may enter the bloodstream, or they are so huge that they are in danger of obstructing air flow!  Both are potentially life threatening conditions.  It would definitely save money if surgery wasn’t done, but for a doctor NOT to recommend surgery, in these cases, IS malpractice!

Obama said in the AARP conference that under HIS plan, nutritionists would counsel diabetics, thus saving money on expensive treatments for complications of diabetes. Does he truly not know that one of the FIRST professionals a doctor sends a newly diagnosed diabetic to IS the nutritionist? To insinuate that doctors do not do that is, again, accusing thousands of endocrinologists of malpractice! Also, Obama is ignorant  that patients will do what they want to despite their doctor’s advise, and even if they do eat correctly, complications can, and still do occur. A government-run health care system would remove the doctor’s ability to personalize a plan according to the patient’s ability to care for himself properly.

In addition, Obama accused the pharmaceutical companies of keeping profits as their number one priority to the detriment of patient care. What Mr Obama is ignorant of, is that if pharmaceutical companies can make drugs which cure diseases and save lives, their profits will be tremendous, because there will be a high demand for their product. I want these companies to make money!  The more money they make the more they can put into researching new drugs which could save millions of lives. Once the government steps in and takes over, the research will grind to a slow pace, because the government will want to make money by taxing these companies. I guess one can also say that a lot of money will be saved when patients die instead of living longer because of new treatments.

The latest suggestion from the Democrats in Congress is taxing insurance companies. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to tell me that taxing health insurance companies will cause them to pass the tax to their members. This will result in cuts in benefits and higher premiums. It makes me wonder if the purpose for doing such a thing would be to force us all into the government-run health care system?  All Americans will suffer if this health care plan is passed.  Right now, it appears that only the President and those in political office will be immune from the system they are devising for their constituents!”

I agree totally.  Obama, a lawyer and relatively inexperienced politician, is trying to tell doctors what they should and shouldn’t do.  He doesn’t know what he is talking about, or maybe he does, and he is just lying to the American people?  I’m leaning towards the latter.  This bill can, and must be defeated.  The stakes are too high to let this one go.  Please call and e-mail your Congressman and Senator and tell them to vote no to the health care bill!

I think those who are deciding how and when health care will be distributed should do their homework a little bit better. Maybe they have and choose to ignore it to promote their own agenda.

And yet when asked whether he’d go to any doctor that he thought could help his family he said yes. Hmmm…

If people could see beyond their own hubris they would see Obama for what he really his. I will concede that he is clever, but in my estimation he is not brilliant. His administration is like a horde of rats, turn the light on them and they scatter.
