No Olympics for Chicago, Must be Bush’s Fault!

Update at bottom

Much to the dismay of President Obama, the IOC picked Rio de  Janeiro for the 2016 Olympics.  Even our Commander in Chief’s legendary teleprompter reading skills were not enough to snag the Olympics for Chicago.  The President’s efforts were not even enough to get Chicago out of the first round of voting.
This is a disaster, a calamity, a catastrophe!  That can mean only one thing.  It must be Bush’s fault!  This is a laughable statement, but it is one the Democrat Senator Roland Burris just made.  Sen. Burris stated in an interview, shortly after the announcement that,

The image of the U. S. has been so tarnished in the last 8 years that, even Barack Obama making an unprecedented pitch for the games could not overcome the hatred the world has for us as a result of George Bush.

Sen Burris isn’t the only one to blame Bush.   Three time Olympic gold medalist swimmer Ambrose Gains has as well.

“I’m still in a state of shock. I can’t believe we couldn’t get past the first round. I still thought the (Chicago) bid overall was the best. Maybe there is some hangover from politics, from the last eight years?”

There you have it folks, it’s Bush’s fault!  It didn’t take very long for someone to say it.  I wonder how long until someone starts blaming it on racism?

UPDATE

The Chicago Sun Times is reporting that some city officials are now blaming their losing Olympic bid on former President Bush.  Is Rio such a horrible city that Chicagoans have to come up with a ridiculous excuse to explain why it was chosen over their own city?

BY ABDON M. PALLASCH Political Reporter

Some Chicago officials say anti-American resentments likely played a role in Chicago’s Olympic bid dying in the first round today.

President Obama could not undo in one year the resentment against America that President Bush and others built up for decades before, they said.

“There must be” resentment against America, the Rev. Jesse Jackson said, near the stage where he had hoped to give a victory speech in Daley Plaza. “The way we [refused to sign] the Kyoto Treaty, we mislead the world into Iraq. The world had a very bad taste in its mouth about us. But there was such a turnaround after last November. The world now feels better about America and about Americans. That’s why I thought the president’s going was the deal-maker.”

Hmm, the Rushkies refuse to shake his hand. He apologizes to the dictators of the world. He stabs allies in the back to appease Russia. He ignore the Brit PM at the UN. Hell, even the French (That’s right! The FRENCH!), thinks he’s weak. Yes sir! I can see why the world takes him so very seriously!

This kind of stuff boggles my mind. With the lack of any proof it must be Bush’s fault!

When I saw your headline I thought you were joking, but why am I not surprised to hear that a senator actually blamed Bush for the failed bid. Amazing and sad..

I wonder if our troops in Afghanistan would have wanted the Olympics in Chicago, or for him to spend more some time with our military leaders to develop strategies and appropriate the requisite support to minimize casualties?
