Health Care Reform Passed the House, It’s Up to the Senate Now

The health care reform bill passed the House late Saturday night (sneaky time when people wouldn’t be watching the news) in an extremely close vote, 220 to 215. I haven’t been able to post about it until now because I was too upset to even think clearly. This bill is the mother of all entitlements. It is the grand slam for liberals. If it becomes law, it will be nearly impossible to deconstruct just as Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security are today. It will grow the bureaucracy and the government past what is sustainable. This bill will not only lower our quality of care, cause insurance companies to go out of business, and give the government complete control of our health care, but it is simply unaffordable. Our government is already running on borrowed money! How much more can it borrow? We are racing towards high inflation because of Obama and the Democrat’s spending spree, but they continue to spend more! This bill does nothing to reduce the actual cost of health care and this means costs willstill continue to rise. That means more taxes and more deficits. Ugghh!
This bill is not about providing quality and affordable health care. If it was, they would have taken a different route. This is about power. If the government controls your ability to see a doctor and receive treatment or medication, they control your life. You know the old saying, ”If you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything”? Well, if this bill becomes law, we will no longer have control of our health… the government will! Our forefathers did not mutually pledge to each other their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to create a government that would provide everything for us and tax the rich to pay for it. They created a country where we would be free from government interference and would have the liberty and ability to rise or fall based on our own merits. America is supposed to be about personal liberty and individual responsibility, not this! My only hope is that the health care bill will be filibustered in the Senate. I urge everyone to call and email their Senators and keep the pressure on them. Our future depends on it.
I will be posting more in depth about the health care bill in the days to come.

If this bill, or something similar, passes in the Senate we will see the dissolution of our Republic begin to snowball. Cap and Trade will be next, and then the Bill of Rights will be modified through aggressively restrictive legislation. Ahhhh, hope and change.

As typical, this bill is about control, nothing more. I hope what Liberty Pen predicts does not come to pass. But I fear it might. It will lead to a Constitutional struggle between the states and the federal government over the remnants of the 10th Amendment. The outcome of that struggle will determine our status as a free nation.

Our founding fathers despised religion too, so can we please take that out of our politics.
What route would they have taken if it was not about providing affordable health care for more people in America? Please, enlighten the world, since the Republican party put out nothing to help except a bunch of the same old same old. Should they have continued to follow the plans that the insurance companies wanted to so that they would continue to reap billions of dollars in profits while the people in our country suffered and died in some cases?
I am pretty sure there is this part that states everyone has the right to the pursuit of happiness. Being healthy and having the ability to be healthy and get medical care when needed certainly falls under that.
But, yes, let’s continue to not do anything so in 10 years when the United States is no longer a “super power,” but a fraction of what it is today, what it was, and is ravaged from millions more Americans being homeless because of health care costs, let’s keep on that track, woo hoo.
I mean really, give it break.

American Idiot,
If you had read some of my past posts you would realize that I have gone over many ways that we can reduce health care costs. You mention that the insurance companies reap billions in profit, but if you had read one of my past posts you would know that the profit margin for the health insurance industry is around 2%. Don’t believe all the lies that moveon.org tells you.
The “part about the pursuit of happiness” that you mentioned is found in the Declaration of Independence. It’s original meaning is taken from John Locke’s statement of “life, liberty and property”. Our founders changed the “property” to “the pursuit of happiness” to give it a broader meaning. In a nutshell, it means we have the right to pursue and own property such as money, real estate, stocks, businesses, etc. This has nothing to do with health care. We are not guaranteed happiness, only the right to pursue it and this right does not come from the government but from our creator… as in “Endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights”.
If you think that universal government run health care is part of the pursuit of happiness and it is your right, you are actually saying that your happiness is more important than that of someone else. Where is the money going to come from? The rich of course. Do you want the government to seize another person’s property (money) to pay for your health care? What about the rich person’s right to pursue happiness? Do they not have a right to keep what they earn? Are their rights worth less than yours? As a conservative, I believe that we are all equal and have an equal right to our property. Liberals, on the other hand, believe that no one has a right to their own property if some politician thinks it can be put to better use somewhere else.
Of course, when the rich are totally tapped out (and they are almost there already) the rest of us will end up having much higher taxes too. Have you ever noticed how expensive fuel is in countries with socialized medicine? It’s 3 to 4 times more expensive than in the U.S. because of taxes.

We are already lost! Something will get passed and no matter how diluted it might be it will be like the door to door salesman getting a foot in the door. From that point the Libs will tack on bit by bit until we as a people will lose all. Any time the government gives anyone something for nothing you promote socialism. Food stamps, welfare, housing, heating assistance, subsidies, cash for clunkers, extended unemployment benefits and first time home buyer credit! All sound like good ideas, all help some but most only become dependent on the program! What ever happened to the true American spirit of just wanting a chance. Don’t give me anything….just a chance. Why do so many think that this country owes them a living. America is toast. We will never see the opportunity to make your own way and if someone happens to do so….then it will be taken and given to someone who is to lazy to do anything for themselves. Religion was not despised by our founding fathers, it was the persecution. Islam is a religion! Despite what the “Annointed One” says, American is a christian nation, founded on christian values and principles period. You take God out of the equation and you get chaos. All anyone has to do is take a look around to see that is exactly what we have. One huge mess! Remember, freedom comes with a cost and that freedom does not mean you can do whatever you want. It means that you have that opportunity, as long as you do not impose your wants on someone else, to do whatever you want. Without morals and values then anything goes at any cost. Are we there? Maybe! Killing babies, done that! This health care mess is setting the stage for euthanasia of the old, the mentally impaired and then how long before it is just the sick! It is time that Americans stood up for what’s right and quit looking for a handout. Freedom is hard won but easily lost. Liberty Lost! That is happening fast!
