Sneaky Backdoor Tax Increase on the Middle Class

Reuters is claiming that Obama’s plan to reduce the deficit includes increasing taxes on the middle class.  The story was originally posted to the internet Monday evening with the title “Backdoor Taxes to Hit the Middle Class”.  It clearly lays out the case that Obama is going to break his well known campaign promise of not raising taxes on people making less than $250,000.  This is a rare story from Reuters, because it is critical of Obama.  However, a few hours after the story was posted, Reuters pulled it from the internet.  Why would they pull such a big story about the President breaking a major campaign promise?  Maybe they received a phone call from the White House telling them that the administration did not approve of the story?  Liberal bias in the media?  State control of the news agencies?  Whatever the reason is, I found a copy of the Reuters story still up on the website of an NBC affiliate in Texas.  Here is the now elusive Reuters story about Obama’s backdoor taxes on the middle class.  I decided to post the entire article in case the NBC affiliate is forced to take it down.  From Reuters,

Obama Says He Will Stand with Voters Demanding to be Heard

In his speech to the United Nations, President Obama said that America will always stand with those who stand up for their dignity and their rights, for voters demanding to be heard, for the innocent who demand to be free, and for the oppressed who yearn to be equal.  Really?  Is that what he did with Iran?  What about Honduras? Is this his new policy because he sure hasn’t been following it so far?

Are You a Racist?

racistWhen Obama won the 2008 election we heard that he had transcended race.   A black man had been elected president and the highest of glass ceilings had been broken.  Race, it seemed, was no longer a major issue in our country.  A new era had been ushered in.  What the heck happened?  It seems like people are being called racists by a myriad of public figures on a daily basis.  Why isn’t anyone talking about all that transcending race stuff anymore?

Racism seems to have been redefined in recent months. It no longer means judging someone by the color of their skin.  It now means disagreeing with Obama and the Democrats.  If you support Obama you are a virtuous, enlightened, knowledgeable soul.  If you disagree with him, you are a racist, Nazi, brown shirt, member of a mob, and (insert your favorite liberal insult here).

Jonah Goldberg, the author of Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left, From Mussolini to the Politics of Change, wrote a piece for National Review Online where he disused the racism claims.  According to Goldberg,

Obama says, “I Dont Want You to Talk, Get Out of My Way!”

obamaIn our great nation, we believe we have certain God given, unalienable rights. One of these rights was put down on paper in the form of the first amendment to our Constitution.  We believe we have the right to free speech, to assemble, to protest, and to petition our government.  This God given right is apparently annoying President Obama and the Democrats.

We have seen an amazing grassroots response to the policies of this new administration in the form of ordinary Americans rising up and saying enough is enough.  Senior citizens and stay at home moms who have never protested anything before are showing up at their Congressman’s town hall meetings and giving them an earful about the course our government is taking.  However, the President and the Democrats in Congress don’t want to hear from these Americans.  We have all heard Obama say many times that he wants to hear from everybody.  We’ve heard him say he wants everyone to have a voice.  We’ve heard him say he wants to have input from everyone on health care.  We’ve heard him say he wants to unite the country.  In reality, he doesn’t want any of this.  It’s evident by his actions.  For the last few months, Obama has been saying one thing and doing another, hiding his true feelings on issues.  Now, he is verbalizing his true desires instead of hiding them.  In a speech to help energize the  democratic base for the Virginia governor’s race, he finally said out loud what he has wanted all along.  He doesn’t want to unite people and listen to all sides.  He wants those of us who disagree with him to get out of his way.  Here is a video of the speech where you can see both Obamas.  The fake Obama, who talks about unity and listening to the opinions of all Americans, and the real Obama who wants to tear down those he disagrees with…

Another Day, Another Promise Broken

During the campaign, we all heard Obama say over and over again that he would not raise taxes on people making less than $250,000 a year.  George Stephanopoulos, on his “This Week” program, asked Treasury Secretary Giethner if taxes would have to be raised on the middle class to lower the record deficit the Obama administration is creating (transcript of the interview).  Giethner’s response was, “…we’re not at the point yet where we’re going to make a judgment about what it’s going to take.”  Stephanopoulos pressed him saying, “But you’re not ruling it out, you can’t rule it out.”  Giethner replied, “I think what the country needs to do is understand we’re going to have to do what it takes, we’re going to do what’s necessary.”  Apparently, to the Obama administration, doing what’s necessary to reduce the deficit includes raising taxes on the middle class.  I have an idea.  Instead of raising taxes, how about we stop spending TRILLIONS of dollars we don’t have.  I guess that’s not an option.
