A new Ramsmussen poll came out today, and it doesn’t look good for President Obama.  Public support for the president continues to drop.  Many of the Americans who were taken in by the chanting of “yes we can… hope… change” seem to be coming to their senses.  Now, only 28% of likely voters strongly approve of the President’s job performance while 40% strongly disapprove.

When the people who at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance are included, he still only has the support of the 49% of likely voters, while 50% disapprove.  The American people are rejecting socialism.  If the President’s numbers continue to go down, it will all but ensure the defeat of Democrat candidates in the 2010 mid-term election.  The political environment is being set perfectly for the Republicans to regain a large number of seats in Congress.  The question that remains is whether or not the GOP will take advantage of this and prove their relavance to the American people.  Will they nominate true conservatives who will uphold the Constitution?  Will liberty and freedom make a comeback?

It will be interesting to see how much he hurts his party in 2010. I think he’ll land somewhere in the mid-40s for approval ratings by the end of the year.

  2. This will prove to be a very important time, I hope the Republicans know what to do with it.

Like all political parties, I’m sure for the first year or two they’ll be okay then it will go to hell.

I think how this goes depends on what manner of dirty tricks the POTUS and the Dems pull when they come back after recess. That being said, if we stick to our guns, we’ll do well.

You can expect a slew of tax raising proposals to come down the pike.
