Obama’s Health Care Plan Provides No Money for Abortions
When President Obama made his health care speech to a joint session of Congress, he said, “And one more misunderstanding I want to clear up: Under our plan, no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions.” This seems pretty cut and dry — no federal dollars for abortions means no tax money for abortions. In spite of what the President said, both the House and the Senate versions of health care reform include federal money or tax credits for abortions. The Senate bill even provides money for Planned Parenthood! Was the President lying? The answer, according to Obama, is no. Even though the health care bills in Congress do provide federal dollars for abortion, Obama’s health care plan does not. From CNSNews.com,
Rep. Bart Stupak (D.-Mich.) told CNSNews.com that President Barack Obama told him in a telephone conversation that when he said in his Sept. 9 speech to a joint session of Congress that “under our plan no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions” he was not talking about the actual bill drafted in the House but about the president’s own health care plan—which has never been written.
Does Obama think we ‘re stupid? He claims that he was referring to his own health care plan when he gave that speech to Congress but does his plan even exist? Where is his health care plan? Can we go to the White House web site and read it? If Congress passes health care reform will he veto it because it is not the same as his plan? Why hasn’t he introduced a written form of his plan to the Congress?
I think this is a way of trying to distance himself from an unpopular policy that he actually supports. People will say that he lied because the health care bill includes money for abortions. He can then reply that his plan did not include money for abortions.
Here is a video of the interview with Rep. Stupak.

Sad, but the President of the United States is an official liar.
He’s not even a very good liar. I have to be honest when I say that I was anticipating more creativity in the deception. I was quite disappointed. That is really the most transparent thing about this administration.

Not telling the truth? Such lies!!!
This is a great post, a strong reminder that we have no reason to trust the government.
Abortion itself is not the dividing issue; the value of life is. Conservatives have always believed in the individual, the very same belief that was behind the GOP support in the 1960s of the rights of African Americans whereas it was the Dems who were against it.
Great post, I will send more people to see it!

I don’t like to get involved with calling people “liar.” I try to believe the best even when I disagree with someone.
It is very difficult to believe, though, that Obama is not being deliberately deceptive. I hope I am wrong.
