Poor Arlen Specter. He just keeps getting yelled at. In a previous post, I showed a video where Specter was holding a town hall and was shouted at. It has happened to him again, but this time after being yelled at, he claims he is encouraging Constitutional rights. Really? I can’t think of any of the rights listed in the Constitution that he is encouraging by supporting the Democrat/Obama agenda.
Nowhere in the Constitution is Congress given the authority to control our health care. Article 1, section 8 lists all the powers of Congress. Health care is simply not there. This means,
Thomas Jefferson said, “The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive.” I wasn’t sure if that spirit was still alive in a significant amount, but after seeing what is happening in town hall meetings on health care, I know it is still alive. Across our great country, citizens are getting angry and down right rowdy towards their elected representatives (take a look at the videos listed below). The current push for government-run health care seems to be the straw that has broken the camel’s back. It’s making me think I should open up a torch and pitchfork store!
Congressmen and women are being shouted down in their own town hall meetings and are getting Constitutional law lessons from their constituents. I think that many of our representatives might be getting a little scared over all of this. That is a wonderful thing because, “when the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.” (Jefferson again). If your Congressman or Senator is holding a town hall meeting near you, grab a torch and pitchfork (metaphorically speaking of course) and go! Let them know how you really feel. We are in the majority on this issue. Don’t be scared to get up to the microphone, and let them have it, “Be not intimidated…nor suffer yourselves to be wheedled out of your liberties…” (John Adams). Arm yourselves with knowledge and facts, and be a little forceful about it because, “what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time that this people preserve the spirit of resistance?” (Thomas Jefferson-He has so many good quotes). We need to continue to resist this assault on our Constitution and our liberty. We need to let our lawmakers know that we are not going to take this quietly. We will not let this go down without a fight. We love our country and our liberty too much to sit back and let them re-make American into a European-socialist country…
