Jimmy Carter recently said an “overwhelming portion” of those who disagree with Obama are racists. So, if by “overwhelming portion” he means a majority, then there is a good statistical chance that he thinks I’m a racist. What is he basing this claim on? According to an interview with Brian Williams, he basis this claim on the fact that some people in this country are still racist, therefore an overwhelming portion of those who protest against Obama are racists. I know it doesn’t follow logically, but it seems many other liberals are saying similar things these days. I have always been a proponent of limited government and a strict adherence to the Constitution, but now those beliefs somehow make me a racist in the eyes of many liberals. Why?
I thought Obama was supposed to transcend race? Why are his supporters bringing it up at every turn when there is no evidence of racism?
In the beginning of this video, notice how Brian Williams says that many of the signs carried by protesters had racial themes. In your opinion, are any of the signs shown racist? The only one I think could possibly be taken as racist is
When Obama won the 2008 election we heard that he had transcended race. A black man had been elected president and the highest of glass ceilings had been broken. Race, it seemed, was no longer a major issue in our country. A new era had been ushered in. What the heck happened? It seems like people are being called racists by a myriad of public figures on a daily basis. Why isn’t anyone talking about all that transcending race stuff anymore?
Racism seems to have been redefined in recent months. It no longer means judging someone by the color of their skin. It now means disagreeing with Obama and the Democrats. If you support Obama you are a virtuous, enlightened, knowledgeable soul. If you disagree with him, you are a racist, Nazi, brown shirt, member of a mob, and (insert your favorite liberal insult here).
If you are an ordinary American, who is angry at the government, and you dare to speak out at a town hall meeting, you must be a Nazi. That’s what Nancy Pelosi thinks. In the video footage I’ve seen from these town hall meetings, there are grandparents, soldiers, and blue collar workers in t-shirts and baseball caps angry at what their government is doing. Nancy Pelosi must be watching some strange town halls because she said the people attending are wearing swastikas…
In my last post, I showed a quote from DNC spokesman Brad Woodhouse, where he called the people speaking out at town halls “…rabid right wing extremists funded by K Street Lobbyists to disrupt thoughtful discussions about the future of health care in America taking place in Congressional Districts across the country.” Where are these politicians getting their information? Do the Democrats really think these Americans,
