Woman Buried in Obama T-Shirt
Many people have criticized President Obama for being a little self absorbed. It is true that he refers to himself and his accomplishments a lot when giving speeches, but a speech at the Democratic National Committee fundraiser in Washington may take the cake. While giving a pitch for his health care plan, he refers to a letter he received about a woman who had died of breast cancer. We don’t know her name, because Obama either chose not to use it, or he forgot it. I don’t know why he would not at least use her first name. However, he was not using a teleprompter, so I think he forgot it. What is surprising about this woman, is that she was buried in an Obama t-shirt. While this may seem a little disturbing to some, Obama almost seems proud of it. According to Byron York of the Washington Examiner,
Many observers have noted that the president often seems extraordinarily self-referential. It’s all about him, they say. But even those critics might be a little taken aback by the “buried in an Obama t-shirt” remark. Is it really that much about him?
If Obama had left out the being “buried in an Obama t-shirt” part, this woman’s story would have been more effective in making his point, but if Obama is truly self absorbed, it would be impossible for him not to include this little piece of information about an unnamed woman. Watch the following video for yourself and come to your own conclusion about Obama’s level of egocentricity. Besides the t-shirt part, notice at the end of the clip how Obama denies that the American people have rejected his health care plan. He claims that Americans actually want his health care plan, they just don’t like the “sausage making” process in Washington. While Obama is correct in stating that people don’t like how things are done in DC, he is incorrect in stating that Americans want his health care plan. In fact, 61% of Americans want Congress to drop health care. I think he is in denial about this. Of course, that goes along with being self absorbed.

I don’t know if this is denial, or just rhetoric. I think maybe they’ll figure it out late on November 2.
The problem with America is not Barack Obama, it’s the individuals who would vote for someone with his beliefs and then turn around and be upset when he starts to do exactly what he said he would do.
We’ve got to rebuild worldview from the ground up!
It does seem that President Obama is very self-centered, but I agree with ThirstyJon. It is a sad situation when even voters in America were pulled in and duped by someone like him. A lot of people, including a lot of us bloggers, tried to warn about him, but we were ignored. Now, a lot of those same people are fretting and worrying over what he is doing. Like ThirstyJon said, he is only doing what he said he would do.
There is one thing that concerns me more than anything and that is how we can prevent Obama from gaining a second term. As it stands right now, I think he may be holding back on his agenda, at least to some degree. He knows he still has to face the voters again in 2012. If he wins that election, all bets will be off.
If Obama destroys our healthcare system as it is today, more people can wear Obama T-shirts as they pass away from rationing & death panels.
It’s too bad that woman died of cancer but if Obamakare has passed or does pass breast cancer deaths will rise to match those of Europe and more people will be dying with an Obama tee shirt.
Maybe he should’ve written her name down on his hand.
I remember that story…instead of helping the woman (who had health insurance, but didn’t feel like paying the deductible) by holding fundraisers or otherwise pitching in to cover her care, like normal people do, her friends used her plight to agitate for a British or Canadian-style gov’t healthcare system.
“My friends let me die to make a point, and all I got was this lousy T-shirt.”
